Set within a circa 1850, Grade II* listed building, the courtyard was designed as a sunny retreat within a communal garden setting. Responding to the difficult chalk-based soil, we used hard materials including natural York stone pavers and a dry gravel garden.

Edible, espaliered apple trees defined the side path, while an edible fig tree created privacy on the boundary. The overall design worked to balance structure and softness, offering year-round interest in a compact space.
